Really, how can people see him as anything else? The man doesn't know how many homes he and his wife own, for starters.
Just last week, he said the economy was fine, but today, he realizes that the economy is in trouble. I cannot fathom how people continue to believe he is capable of leading the United States when he repeatedly demonstrates how out of touch he is with the people of the United States. Then again, my theory is this: McCain/Palin supporters are a little like conspiracy theorists. They hear what they want to hear and disregard any evidence otherwise. (To be fair, there are a few Obamaists who have the same problem. Neither candidate is dipped in gold.)
For example, McCain boldly stated that the "crisis on Wall Street, my friends, started in the Washington culture of lobbying and influence-peddling, and [Sen. Barack Obama] was right square in the middle of it." He neglected to add that he had accepted nearly $170,000 from the same lobbyists. (An NPR story noted that figure was about 10X the amount Obama accepted.) McCain supporters could be told that he's a liar, but it probably wouldn't matter because he flung sticky mud.
Have we devolved so far that lies and half-truths are all we want to believe?
