Chinese New Year 2013

Friends from Juniper's school suggested meeting up for dim sum before watching the Chinese New Year's parade. We'd wanted to go before, but hadn't made it.

Until now!

Juniper's class had been studying Chinese New Year so the parade made for a good end to their school unit. Bonus: dim sum and a much needed visit to Chinatown. When I worked at The Knitting Factory, I ate somewhere in the neighborhood about half the week. Dumplings are cheap, yo!

Sesame balls. Too many dumplings to remember. Rice noodles with shrimp.

So windy!

Lots of lions and we had a front row spot!

And dragon!

Juniper, on Mister's shoulders. Sometimes the dragons and lions came in for kisses.

Afterwards, we warmed up at a bubble tea shop with karaoke rooms downstairs. Five toddlers and an infant … karaoke room … perfect! They could be noisy and no one cared! I had to collect several loose dice and a cigarette butt before letting them roam. Carver looks pretty great in the Nanook of the North hat.
